St Andrews spin-outs and start-ups make the cut for cohort 3 of Converge

Three University spin-outs and start-ups have made the cut for the next cohort of Converge, Scotland’s premier company creation programme for staff, students and recent graduates of all Scottish universities and research institutes.

Robert Sidey – KindHive, Michael Bennie – Marine Forest, and Oliver Lee – Silico are part of the 100 spin-outs and starts-ups that will receive support to turn their ideas for products and services into reality as part of Converge’s 2023 programme, which includes people from all 19 Scottish higher education institutions.

Dr Caludia Cavalluzzo, Executive Director at Converge, said: “We are proud to be supporting ambitious people from right across Scotland who demonstrate that university students, staff, and graduates are rising to the challenge of delivering sustainable and inclusive economic growth in every region.”

Converge’s mission is to empower the next generation of innovators, creators and groundbreakers to turn their ideas into commercially viable businesses to improve lives, safeguard our planet, and help Scotland’s economy thrive.

Funded by the Scottish Funding Council, Creative Scotland, all of Scotland’s universities, and a network of ten corporate partners, the programme is designed to springboard new businesses through intensive training, networking, 1-2-1 support, generous equity-free cash prizes, and expert advice from a roster of business and investment experts.
