Established in 2017 with 8 employees and a turnover of £1.1 million

Catalysis is a vital component in improving sustainability and efficiency in chemistry on a global scale. In 2017, a large multinational energy and chemical company, and tenant of the University of St Andrews, closed its R&D department. The R&D team had world-class expertise and capabilities in catalysis, along with a wide range of equipment, and Drochaid is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the University.

It maintains a close working relationship with the various teams and the School of Chemistry, delivering a hands-off approach to IP, while providing full ownership to clients to allow faster agreements of terms and a partnership approach to problems – working with clients to find novel solutions rather than just data.
